Exclusive Tour of the Art Gallery, October 2011
On 3 September, the Auckland Art Gallery re-opened its doors after a three-year hiatus. The new renovations have allowed for around 15,000 works of art to be put up on display as well as a cafe, gallery shop and an auditorium.
On a beautiful October morning, PRINZ members enjoyed this amazing building all to themselves as part of an exclusive tour before the gallery opened to the public. Staff from the gallery took members on a guided tour of artworks on display and a look at the new spaces available for events.
From the cleaver and dazzling ‘Flower Chandelier’ to the impressive floating floor renovation and awe-inspiring Robertson Collection – it was the perfect start to a spring morning and chance to see behind the scenes of one of Auckland’s greatest cultural assets.
